\n A major project is underway to restore the beautiful Cloisters of Salisbury Cathedral. <\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

\n The Conservation Project <\/h2>\n <\/div>\n
\n

\n Our Works Department has begun a major restoration project to the North Cloisters that is expected to take up to five years to complete. The project will restore the Cloister\u2019s elaborately carved tracery and Purbeck columns, which are in urgent need of repair.

\r\nOur stonemasons will make their way along the Cloisters, conserving and replacing stones as necessary. We have put up interpretation panels where the work is taking place, to shine a light on our talented stonemasons and explain more about the project. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n The Cathedral’s Works Department <\/h3>\n

\n Salisbury is one of only 10 cathedrals to have an in-house team of skilled stonemasons who still use original medieval carving techniques.
